Inexpensive Ways To Treat Smooth Hair

Is your hair too rough after washing it?

Worried all the treatments are expensive?

Yes, there can be rather expensive ways of attempting to tame rough hair but that’s no biggie.

There are inexpensive treatments available to smoothen out the rough hair.

You don’t need to visit a salon to smooth your hair out. Instead, you can get this in the comfort of your own home and your time.

Here are some inexpensive and natural ways to smoothen out your hair:

  • Milk masks
  • Apple cider vinegar rinse
  • Cold Water
  • Blotting wet hair
  • Trimming
  • Aloe vera masks
  • Banana smoothie
  • Combing
  • Washing
  • Avocado masks
  • Hair drying techniques
  • Satin pillows

Milk masks:

Since I have struggled with rough hair for a considerably long time, I try to usually use a milk mask. This mask has really helped my hair become more smooth and silky in a short period of time.

The process is straightforward but slightly time-consuming. Firstly, you need to comb your hair thoroughly and then add milk (I usually use warm milk) on your hair strands. Next, make sure to comb it again to spread the milk around before waiting until it dries and then, wash it off with shampoo.

Apple cider vinegar rinse:

Another rinsing option you could consider is using apple cider vinegar. Not only does it make your hair smooth, but also makes it shiny.

This specific vinegar helps in rebuilding the pH balancing and enclosing the cuticle. To make the rinse, you just had to mix a cup of water and a quarter-cup of the vinegar, which you will add to your hair after showering.

In the past, I have tried this rinse and let me tell you, although it took some time to show results, the waiting and effort was worth it!

Cold Water:

Rinsing your hair in cold water can prove to be a rather difficult job for those who like showering in warm water rather than cold.

However, cold water is a tried-and-tested method to get smoother hair. Warm water induces the hair cuticles to open up, while on the other hand, cold water does the exact opposite: it allows the hair cuticles to stay closed. In other words, your hair stays flat and smooth after washing it with cold water.

Blotting wet hair:

Although it may be really tempting to rub your hair after showering, it’s best not to since it causes the hair strands to become rough and possibly, leading to breakage.

In addition to this, it also allows the hair strands to become more frizzy. Thus, it is best to blot the water droplets away at the top and give the long sections of hair in the sides a squeeze.

Trimming:

Trimming is especially known to be performed when growing the hair. However, in general, even if you’re not growing your hair, there may be split ends present which leads to a rather rough texture in hair.

Therefore, it is encouraged to trim your hair regularly to adopt a more smooth texture.

Aloe vera masks:

Aloe vera is often used for several treatments, especially hair treatments since it has enzymes that allow the hair to grow healthily.

Additionally, it is composed of keratin (a protein that is also present in your hair strands) that enables it to permeate into the hair. In order to make a mask, simply use warm water to dilute the aloe vera gel.

Later on, you need to apply it to your hair whilst combing it and wait for thirty minutes before rinsing it out.

Banana smoothie:

A banana smoothie can used as a mask. There are several different kinds of masks but one that works really well to smoothen out your hair is a banana mask.

What you need to do for this is mash a ripe banana and add two spoons of plain yogurt. Mix it until you get a smooth paste and apply it to your hair. Leave it for forty-five minutes before rinsing it out and washing your hair.

Combing:

Although it may not seem that important, combing with the right technique is essential to have smooth hair.

To get the best results, comb your hair with a wide-toothed comb brush on damp hair, but ensure you do not do it too roughly or too fast because there is a high chance of hair falling out.

Make sure to comb your hair vertically and softly, whilst working with the tangles towards the end.

Washing:

If you do not have a scalp or hair that is too oily, you probably do not need to wash your hair with shampoo every single day, as this could remove natural oils from your hair.

Natural oils allow your hair strands to be shiny and also helps in avoiding any sort of damage. Try skipping a day or two without shampooing to see if your hair still remains a good texture.

Avocado masks:

Dryness of hair can also lead to dullness and breakage. Avocados are a good solution for this since they contain vitamins and proteins that are proven to be healthy for your air.

You need to combine a ripe avocado, a few tablespoons of olive oil, and around two tablespoons of honey and mix it until the mixture appears to become smooth. Next, use a comb (if it is a wide-toothed one, it would be the best) through your hair strands and spread it around and wait for ten to thirty minutes before washing it off.

Hair drying techniques:

Air drying is always the way to go, but if in any case, you need to dry your hair with a dryer, ensure that you are pointing your hair down and not putting too much heat. Too much heat can damage the quality and texture of your hair. This technique is used to ensure the hair cuticles are smooth and flat.

Satin pillows:

Satin pillowcases can also ensure to keep your hair smooth and silky, so try sleeping on one instead of the cotton pillowcases.

Conclusion:

To conclude, there are several different treatments that you could test to get a smoother texture for your hair, especially if your hair tends to become rough. Masks have proven to be good treatments, especially those with aloe vera, banana, yogurt, avocado, and milk.

Additionally, make sure you are combing your hair in a rather gentle way, instead of being rough and harsh. It is also important to check that you are not washing your hair too often unless it has a tendency to become too oily.

Washing hair with shampoo too often can cause it to become rougher and remove natural oils, making it more prone to damage. With these simple treatments, you will be able to adopt a smoother texture for your hair in no time!
